Felicia is fighting both shear and cooler sea surface temperatures and may likely degrade further before making landfall.
It is likely that Felicia will be either a tropical depression or possibly a weak tropical storm as it moves through or near Hawaii later Monday and Tuesday. At this time, it appears impacts to Aloha State will be mostly minor.
Over the next 48 hours expect gusty winds, especially in the higher elevations, along the coast, and in the channels between islands. Rainfall could be locally heavy resulting in localized flooding issues. A high surf warning is posted for eastern facing beaches where waves will peak in the 10 to 15 foot range.
A tropical storm watch is in effect for The Big Island of Hawaii, Maui, Kahoolawe, Lanai, Molokai, and Oahu. A flash flood watch is also posted for these islands.
